Dr. Katherine Heer, DMD
general dentist
As a teenager I needed corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery, I became fascinated in the transformative ability of dentistry. I was able to chew better, smile straighter, and had less pain. I knew I had found my career direction! I began dental assisting at the age of 16, went to dental hygiene school, and then completed my Dental Degree at Tufts in Boston in 1994.
After a hospital-based residency, I had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including my own private practice. My philosophy of treating patients as if they are a close family member defines my vision of care and compassion.
Dentistry for me has extended into a lifestyle. I have had the privilege to be a Board member for Delta Dental, a local hospital, and the University of New England. Being inducted into the International College of Dentists in Hawaii has been a highlight of my career, and I am now excited to now be an active member of the Vermont Dental Society.

Outside the Office
I really enjoy living in Shelburne just down the road from my son who works at Shelburne Farms. My daughter returned from the Peace Corps and has joined the lab at Northwest Hospital. I am a passionate hiker, swimmer and scuba diver. In less active moments I enjoy reading, trying new recipes with my fiancé Shawn, and playing with my labradoodle Tucker.
